To celebrate the soft Roman skyline and the architectural wonders of the eternal city We appropriated the magnificent domes of San Pietro and the Pantheon as lampshades.
Externally, the domes seem monochrome and only their proportions give a hint of the nature of their content. Internally the architectural details of the domes of Pantheon and San Pietro spring from the surface of Alcantara with a three-dimensional effect created by an interplay of shades.
The Domes become a visual memory of the emotions conveyed by the Eternal City and allow us to admire and keep with us, once at home, these beautiful architecture.
Alcantara DIY pouches
The Giallo Antico of Trajan’s Forum, the Carrara of Pope Julius II’s mausoleum, the Lapis Lacedaemonius of Hadrian’s Villa, the Botticino of the Monument to Victor Emanuel II, the red marble flooring of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo and the granite of the Pantheon. In this project, a palette of different marbles used in historic Ancient Roman constructions are reproduced on Alcantara and become the protagonists of unusual DIY products. Using the supplied patterns, the user’s creativity enables sheets of Alcantara to be moulded into many different objects by just folding the material, with no stitching.
